Welcome, Bienvenue, Bienvenidos, Marhaban, Wilkomen
De La Salle School was awarded Specialist Language Status in 2008. De La Salle School’s vision is to support the National Languages Strategy in developing a distinct and visible “Languages for All: Languages for Life” ethos throughout the school community and beyond. At De La Salle, we are determined that our students will leave us as sophisticated 21st century global citizens, fascinated by other cultures and relishing the opportunities to communicate in another language.
This also enables the school to secure funds to help the Languages Department disseminate good practise in teaching and learning within the school and to other local secondary and primary schools.
As part of the Language College work we have community projects on going with a variety of groups of different cultural heritages. We offer community language support for African, European and Chinese languages. All members of our community are welcome to attend courses after school. Details are available on request.
Multi Media Language Lab
The department of Modern Foreign Languages has a brand new PC-based Language Lab facility. Pupils at De La Salle use the lab to improve their pronunciation in French, Spanish and German. A variety of free language resources and websites are also available to our pupils. Our pupils have the opportunity to work under supervision in groups or pairs, or study a new language independently. This latest technological development has positively enhanced language learning at De La Salle School.
You are welcome to visit our Language College website by clicking the link below. It contains plenty of resources about languages. You will also find here the latest information about our International trips and exchanges.
