Basildon- Jerez Exchange programme

On the 12th October, the school hosted 6 pupils and 2 members of staff from our partner school, La Salle Buen Pastor, Jerez, Spain. 6 of our pupils hosted the Spanish pupils in Basildon from Friday 9th to Sunday 18th October 2009. Over the course of the week, our Spanish hosts spent 3 days at school where they followed their British partners in their lessons. They were given the opportunity to have lessons that are not part of the Spanish curriculum such as Mandarin and Drama which they seemed to have enjoyed a lot!
Dr Flagg, Mrs Flor and Miss Boureda have been working on this project for a year. It all started when Dr Flagg spotted our website on the internet and thought it would be an amazing idea to establish a partnership between our two schools. As we both share the same Lasallian ethos, and the same passion for languages, it became evident that the partnership between our schools was to be mutually beneficial. It was also clear that it would have a positive impact on our pupils’ understanding of the Lasallian ethos and their awareness of other cultures.
I would like to thank all the parents who hosted our Spanish pupils, Miss Forde who hosted Mrs Flor, Dr Curnock and the Language College team for supporting the project.
